Hello and Happy Friday!

Since it is too hot to do almost anything, I’ve decided to keep today’s newsletter short, but definitely sweet.

Not sweet with sugar, rather sweet with some recent arrivals that should appeal to a broad spectrum of Perman Wine Selections fans.

The last three wines are being offered at an incredibly discounted rate.  Their distributor had a “end of bin” special and I sifted through the list to offer you these great wines!

So chill out, relax, and read through this list of gems.

I’ll see you soon for some refreshing summertime adult beverages!

Cheers,

Craig

2010 BERNARD BAUDRY CHINON BLANC “LA CROIX BOISSÉE”
Never heard of a white wine from the famed red wine region of Chinon in the Loire Valley?  This white wine from superstar producer Bernard Baudry, is one of the great white wines of the Loire Valley.  100% Chenin Blanc from the single-vineyard “La Croix Boissée.”  Depth, texture, citrus, stone fruits, intensely mineral – all words I would use to describe this amazing wine.  You can drink this now, or lay it down for a decade.  I special ordered this wine, so these are probably the only 24 bottles that came into Illinois this year.  They should go fast!
$41.99 BTL. / ONLY 24 BOTTLES AVAILABLE

2011 BRIDGE LANE ROSÉ
A bright, light and really refreshing Rosé from Lieb Family Cellars in Long Island.  This is a blend of predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, with a little Cabernet Franc and Merlot blended in.  You get just a hint of herbal notes from the Bordeaux varietals, but they are nicely integrated into the strawberry and rhubarb fruit notes.  They typically make under 100 cases of this per year, a supply that I think I could drink by myself during a warm summer like this.  Bridge Lane is the value-line of Lieb Family Cellars, and this truly is a bargain.
$14.99 BTL. / $179.88 CASE

2005 ÀNIMA NEGRA “Àn”
Spanish wine fans should not miss the opportunity to purchase this fantastic full-bodied red wine from the island of Mallorca.  Ànima Negra was one of the leaders of the quality revolution that continues to take place on the island.  Three friends began producing in 1994 from their estate on the Southeastern part of the island.  “Àn” is their top wine from very old vines.

“The 2005 AN is predominantly Callet with a small percentage of Mantonegre-Fogoneu. The wine was aged for 17 months in French oak. Dark ruby-colored, more fragrant and richer than the AN/2, it offers a superb bouquet of cedar, lavender, fresh herbs, violets, and wild red fruits. Elegant, silky, intense, and long on the palate, this hedonistic effort will provide much pleasure over the next 10 years.  92 Points, Jay Miller, Wine Advocate.”
$29.99 BTL. / NORMALLY $55.99 BTL. – ONLY 12 BOTTLES AVAILABLE

2007 CATENA ALTA CABERNET SAUVIGNON
If you read a lot about wine then you will instantly recognize the Catena name as one of the most famous producers in Argentina.  For almost 20 years they have raised the bar of quality in the Mendoza region.  They named their first super-premium wines “Catena Alta.”  A selection of very low-yielding grapes from some of their best plots, this wine is made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Fermented in a mixture of large oak and stainless steel the wine is aged for 18 months in French oak.  Those searching for a full-bodied Cabernet for a grilled steak should not miss this.
$35.99 BTL. / NORMALLY $51.99 BTL. – ONLY 10 BOTTLES AVAILABLE

2006 MONTEVETRANO COLLI DE SALERNO IGP
The fact that you can buy this wine at a huge discount is amazing to me.  This is one of Italy’s great red wines.  A few years back I co-hosted a dinner at Spiaggia  with Silvia Imparato, owner of Montevetrano.  She is legendary in the Italian wine world for reinvigorating her family’s vineyards in a part of Campania that is not very well-known for its wines, very close to Salerno. I’m told the wine is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 10% Aglianico, although it changes slightly year to year.   If you love full-bodied, savory, spice-driven Italian reds, I would highly recommend snagging this before its gone!
$59.99 BTL. / NORMALLY $79.99 BTL. – ONLY 12 BOTTLES AVAILABLE
