Friday Feature – Sparkling Wine From Savoie

Hello and Happy Friday!

The chill is in the air, the parties and celebrations are starting to come every weekend, and for many that means time to toast with bubbly!

Perman Wine Selections is the best place in Chicago to shop for all things bubbles, because no one, and I mean no one, loves it more than I do!

In the coming months, look forward to the following emails:

Champagne Value of the Year – Friday, November 2nd

Sparkling Wine Value of the Year – Friday, November 9th

“Baller” Champagne for the Holidays – Friday, December 7th

Lot’s to look forward to – but why wait?

An amazing “closeout” price just came my way on a fantastic sparkling wine from the Savoie in France. The importer dropped one of its local distributors and in a move to clear inventory, said distributor dropped the price way below normal wholesale.

I received only 120 bottles of this fantastic sparkling wine. At this price, if you love bubbles, well, let’s just say you shouldn’t miss it.

Have a great weekend,
Craig

Friday Feature

N.V. André et Michel Quenard Méthode Traditionnelle Brut
Savoie- where have you been all my life and why haven’t I visited you?

With all my travels in Europe, I have yet to visit the Savoie appellation located on the Eastern edge of France, close to Switzerland. This is “alpine France” and due to its mountainous conditions, there are few vineyards to produce grapes.

What it does and can produce, are some fantastic sparkling, white and red wines from local varietals such as Jacquère, Bergeron and Mondeuse.

Michel Quenard and his father André are well-known for producing some of the best wines in Savoie and in particular in the area of Chignin. The domaine dates back to the 1930’s, although estate bottling began with André in the 1960’s.

Across the board these are fantastic wines. Of course I have a soft spot in my heart for their bubbles!

Their sparkling wine is made entirely from the Jacquère varietal, 50-year old vines planted on marl and limestone. It is produced by Méthode Champenoise (secondary fermentation in bottle), and aged on its lees.

Well-produced sparkling wine from the Savoie, such as this, gives such great pleasure when drinking as an apéritif.
It’s a mountain wine folks! That means pristine and bright notes of pear, apple and citrus. Surprising richness on the palate, with hints at almond and herbs. It finishes with great length and is oh-so-refreshing!

This wine normally retails for $25.99, and I’ve sold it at such price. At the discounted price of $18.99, it should fly out the door! Really good, under $20 sparkling wine is difficult to find – so reserve yours today!
$18.99 BTL. / $227.88 – WHILE SUPPLIES LAST, NORMALLY $25.99!
