Yes, ’tis the season for fizz – and here are EVENTS for imbibing the bubbly!

THE Champagne Dinner!

Don’t get me wrong, good Champagne is a glorious drink by itself – heck, it’s the ultimate “Cheers!” wine. But enjoy it in its other important role, too – at table, with deliciously prepared food. In fact, Champagne may be the most versatile food wine that there is. You are in for the treat of your year at this multi-course, multi-bubbly Champagne Dinner, THE Champagne Dinner to beat all.

WHEN: Saturday, December 5th, 2009, at 7 PM.

WHERE: A secret location! All attendees will receive the location address via e-mail the day before the event.

COST: $235 a person, all-inclusive.

THE EVENT: Perman Wine Selections and X-Marx team up again to bring you another amazing evening of food and wine parings. If you are not familiar with X-Marx, they are Chicago’s premier alternative dining experience. A group of trained chefs that host themed dinners at secret locations around Chicago. Each of my collaborations with X-Marx has been great, and I know this Champagne dinner will top them all!

We will feature eight (8) courses of food, over a wide range of preparations, paired with seven (7) Champagnes of impeccable pedigree (some vintaged, others rosé, no slouches here). If you were to replicate this dinner yourself – or have a fine restaurant do it for you – the cost would be between $450-$500 a person. This event WILL sell out. Reservations limited to the first 20 acceptances only.


Two Champagne Soirées – Celebrate the Holiday’s with a Pop!

WHEN: Back-to-Back Nights! – Choose between Thursday or Friday, December 3rd or 4th, 2009, from 7-9:30 PM.

WHERE: At the store, 802 W. Washington (Washington & Halsted)

COST: $100 a person.

THE EVENT: A sit-down tasting of eleven (11) Champagnes, with cheeses from Pastoral. (The Champagne selection will be different each night.) The focus of the tasting will be on the emerging new class of “grower-producer” Champagnes, sparkling wines made by small, hands-on producers who make Champagne from cradle to case: they grow the grapes, make the wine, assemble the cuvées, age the Champagne – and send it off to you! Both of these evenings WILL sell out. Reservations limited to the first 14 acceptances (each night) only.
