The Wine Wire- 2010 Domaine des Comtes Lafon

If you haven’t already begun to worry about Burgundy, specifically Volnay & Meursault, you might want to pop a Xanax before reading the next sentence. 2013 will be a devastating vintage for the Côte de Beaune, specifically Volnay and Meursault. Wrath-of-God hail and July flooding have left vineyards ravaged and if everyone’s lucky, they may, just may, be able to re-coup about 30% of normal production. What many people were not talking about is that 3 separate hailstorms in July of 2012 did considerable damage to the same area. Take into consideration slightly reduced yields in 2011, significantly reduced yields in 2010 (due to a frosty spring) and you have problems.

If you want to own any Burgundy from Comtes Lafon, we suggest you buy now or forever hold your peace.
