The Wine Wire: Affordable 2009 Bordeaux? Oui, Mangot!

Château Mangot is a small Saint- Emilion producer of good quality in the commune of Saint-Etiènne-de-Lisse (neighbors include Château Faugères & Château Fleur Cardinale). The particular terroir here is a limestone outcropping that covers the traditional clay. Château Mangot’s “Cuvée Quintessence” is a particularly luscious expression of 100% Merlot, made from 40+ year old vines.

Blackbird singing at the edge of night, indeed!

Chateau Mangot ‘Cuvée Quintessence’ Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Bordeaux, France $35.99/ BTL- $431.88/Case of 12
