Anne Pichon "Sauvage" Vermentino '17

Rhône Valley

Anne Pichon "Sauvage" Vermentino '17

Anne Pichon hails from the Ventoux region in the Southern Rhône, east of the Rhône River and just south of Gigondas.  Winemaker, Marc Pichon, named his wine after his wife, when he purchased Domaine le Murmurium in 2008.  Comprised of old vineyards on prime terroir adjacent to Château Pesquie.  These vineyards produce low-yielding vines and because of the Mistral winds that sweep up from the hills below, fruit is less susceptible to rot and disease, providing and ideal environment for organic viticulture.

This is 100% Vermentino, farmed organically in sandy and rocky subsoil with a thin layer of chalky-clay soil.  Fermentation takes place in tank, with selected natural yeasts and then spends about 5 months on its lees.  This wine shows great acidic levels, minerality and texture on the palate, but still alluding to fresh citrus notes, bright and perfect with soft cheeses, seafood; a great aperitif.
