Anthill Farms Syrah "Peters Vineyard" '17

Given their 15-year track record, and the talent level of partners Anthony Filiberti, Webster Marquez, and David Low, there are not many wines from California you can find that boasts high quality wines at unbeatable prices. The three met over 15 years ago, working at Williams Selyem and the rest is history. While their production levels have grown over this period of time, they remain a small producer, whose core fundamentals lie in high quality fruit and intensive, hoslistic farming practices.

All of this applies to this single-vineyard Syrah, co-fermented with a small percentage of Viognier. This vineyard site is highly influenced by its proximity to the ocean, along with a foggy landscape that protects the vines from the scorching California sun, enables slow-ripening vines, allowing the grapes great hang time on its vines.

The wine is juicy and round with fresh blackberry and boysenberry, nuanced with floral elements and hints of savory and cedar tones, highlighted its slightly tangy acidity. The oceanic influence is conveyed in its overall elegant format. This is a wine that while it is showing well right now, can be laid down for another five years, easily. Quite the unbeatable price for a cellar builder! Don't miss out.
