Château de Roquefort "Corail" Côtes de Provence Rosé '16

Château de Roquefort "Corail" Côtes de Provence Rosé '16

The Chateau de Roquefort has been around since Greek-Celtic times, when it served as an inland fortification for Marseilles and Cassis. Princes, kings, and bishops have traded the property back and forth since, until the Earl of Gardenne purchased it in 1812. His descendants, the de Villeneuve family, own the estate to this day. The original cellar from 1734 was updated in 1995. The vineyards range in age from 15 to 40 years, and are planted to Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Mourvèdre, Carignan, Clairette, Rolle (Vermentino) and Ugni blanc. They're a mix of stony clay and chalk and lie 350-400 meters above sea level. The property is close enough to the Mediterranean that its cooling influence protects from extreme heat and weather patterns. This rosé is Grenache, Syrah, Cinsault, Carignan, and Vermentino. Hand harvested in late september and vinified to preserve freshness and drinkability. This is classic Provençal rosé, perfect in any season
