Do Ferreiro is a small family-run estate located outside the village of Sanxenxo in the heart of Galicia in Northwest Spain.

Albariño specialists, the Méndez family produces six different examples of that grape.

"Rebisaca" is perhaps the most unique wine produced at Do Ferreiro, as it is the only wine that blends Albariño with another varietal. It is also the only wine they produce with fruit from outside the Val do Salnés.

The 2015 Rebisaca is a blend of 85% Albariño from vineyards in the Salnés, along with 15% Treixadura, from a single vineyard in the sub-zone of Condado do Tea. That sub-zone takes its name from the Tea River, which is a tributary of the Miño River. It is the most southern sub-zone, straddling the Portuguese border, and is the warmest and driest.

The "Rebisaca" utilizes vines ranging in age up to 55 years old. The wine was fermented with indigenous yeasts in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks and then aged on its lees for almost nine months before being bottled.

For many of you, this will be one of the few experiences you have with a bottle aged white wine. You will notice the color is more golden, and the fruit while still present, has taken a co-starring role along with the minerality that is derived from the soil.

There are bright notes of citrus, stone fruit and mineral on the nose. In the mouth, the vibrancy of Albariño is still present, but the richness of Treixadura adds complexity.

Go out and buy yourself some crab legs, langoustines, and other shellfish, to simply prepare and enjoy with a glass of Rebisaca.
