Domaine Roche Cairanne "Le Bousquette" Côtes du Rhône Villages '14

Domaine Roche Cairanne "Le Bousquette" Côtes du Rhône Villages '14

From one of the newest cru status appellations and some of the oldest vines in the Southern Rhône, comes a wonderfully nuanced wine from Domaine Roche. The Cairanne appellation was previously classified as 'Côtes du Rhone Villages Cairanne', but after an extended period where it was seen by many as as the most consistently excellent of the villages, it was elevated to cru status in 2016. And no wine typifies this appellation better than "La Bousquette". Using the oldest vines on the estate, over 120 years old. These vines were planted just after the phylloxera crisis. The age of the vines and the long experience and knowledge of the family, give the wine uncommon depth. The 2014 vintage (80% Grenache, 20% Carignan) shows notes of cut wild flowers and crushed stones with deep, rich red and bramble fruits and grip on the finish. An excellent choice with roasted pork or lamb chops. This is an ideal wine for the upcoming cooler temperatures. This is an incredible value, Southern Rhône fans, don't miss it!
