Over the past 30 years, winemaker Steve Edmunds has set out in hopes to bring something new to the California winescape. Steve works exclusively with cool-climate vineyard sites in Northern California, and most varietals that are not commonly seen in California, like Gamay. Steve is truly a pioneer, aiding in the expansion of where and what to plant in California, going outside the boundaries of what is typically seen. To this day, he holds a remarkable cult-like status in the California wine world garnered by both the consumer and his fellow peers in winemaking.

This is Steve's 16th vintage of "Bone-Jolly" Gamay! The fruit is sourced from Barsotti Vineyard in the Sierra Nevada foothills, at almost 3,000 feet elevation. The vines are planted in decomposed granite soils, a classic soil type for Gamay that you often find in areas like Morgon, in Beaujolais.

Steve's tasting notes: The color in the ’17 is on the light side, it’s a pretty ruby red. The nose is very fresh, and quite tense and mineral, with intriguing depth and strong soil tones.

On the palate, there’s lovely Gamay fruit behind ample acidity, all framed by suave tannins, and a fine, savory finish. Comes to life with air, with time, with food! 12.9% alcohol.
