Steve's achievements include not only utilizing "outsider" grapes, but also being a modern pioneer of specifically Gamay, in California. The grape of Beaujolais. A grape, that Steve has successfully managed to cultivate and vinify in a new world setting, while keeping it just as terroir-driven and complex as its French counterpart. Perhaps most similarly to Morgon.

The plantings for the "Bone-Jolly" red are sourced from strictly Gamay at Barsotti Vineyards in the Sierra Nevada Foothills, with plantings from plots at almost 3,000 feet in elevation, in decomposed granite soils.

What we have here is an incredibly light and juicy, fresh Gamay. This is full of ample fruit and acidity, framed from soft and supple tannins. There is a lovely savory component to this wine as well. Put a slight chill on it, and it enjoy it on its own or with any summer fare; fresh herb salad, grilled fruit & vegetables or chicken & pork - or if you can get your hands on some duck, that would be a good pairing!
