Folk Machine Pinot Noir "Gas, Food & Lodging - Vecino Vineyard" '17

With an expansive (and delicious) wine portfolio such as Kenny Likitprakong's, it's hard for us to not slowly introduce you to as many of his wines as possible through the wine club.  Kenny's ideals are perfect for our 6 for Everyday, providing us with wines that are meant for everyday consumption!  Kenny's wines also have a gastronomic edge, so you'll find yourself easily pairing these wines with any meal throughout the week.

This month, we are taking a look at one of his Pinot Noir, through the distinctive Folk Machine label.  Folk Machine was created in 2005 to primarily be a home for Pinot Noir.

Pinot is grown at the organic and biodynamically farmed Vecino Vineyard in Potter Valley, located in the outer stretches of Mendocino County where the area is sparsely populated and you probably won't find any cell phone service.  You can expect wines from this vineyard to show a ripeness that reflects the warm climate, but manages to stay light and incredibly fresh on the palate. The lightness is reflective upon the incredible temperature swing from day to night, due to higher elevation (about 1,000 ft.), in addition to the vineyard's proximity to the Russian River.  All of these factors combine aid in capturing such an ethereal quality found in this wine.

This is a truly light-bodied Pinot Noir with delicate tones of red fruit and cherry blossoms.  There is also a savory herbal tone that plays well with the fresh acidic quality in the wine.  A perfect aperitif wine.  Enjoy with cheese and charcuterie.
