Goodfellow Family Cellars Chardonnay "Ribbon Ridge" '16

Sometimes we feel the need to preach the gospel; every so often, we feel the need to do this with Chardonnay.  Apart from what culturally was once perceived as the Chardonnay style that we popularily knew, some have since come to distinguish themselves by breaking away and shifting focus. Chardonnay is a chameleon of a grape, so it's really up to the winemaker.  We would put Marcus Goodfellow's Chardonnay up there with some of the greats of the world.  Yes, we said it and we stand behind this completely.  This wine has an old world soul, with a true sense of terroir and respect.  Goodfellow's touch is precise yet gentle.  He surrounds himself with like-minded farmers with of the utmost respect for the land.

Another Perman-exclusive, and one of our absolute favorites from Willamette Valley.  Marcus Goodfellow produces an incredible array of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Gris. He works with a handful of grower - farmers, top sites, sustainably and dry farmed. He doesn't overwork the wines, and produces really pure wines that taste great young, but also evolve in bottle. All of this at tremendous prices. This Ribbon Ridge Chardonnay is easily one of the best values in American Chardonnay as well. 2016 Ribbon Ridge is declassified Whistling Ridge fruit. The wine has the depth of Whistling Ridge fruit, but is in a perfect spot for immediate consumption. With a significant aging regiment, this translates into a wine appears to be all business, but also a crowd pleaser.   Because it's listed as Ribbon Ridge rather than Whistling Ridge, you are getting an absolute steal you do not want to pass up!
