Julien Brocard Chablis "Vigne de la Boissonneuse" '17

There are few more enjoyable white wines than a well-made bottle of Chablis. I mentioned "well-made" because sadly the majority of Chablis still suffers from growers who don't recognize the impact that sustainable, organic or even biodynamic farming can have on the complexity of the grapes they harvest.

Julien Brocard is part of the younger generation that recognizes that great wine starts in the vineyard. In 1997 he first purchased a vineyard called "La Boissonneuse," located on a hillside just outside the village of Préhy. He began by converting the farming toward biodynamic viticulture. By 2002 he had his biodynamic certification for this vineyard. Today he farms all 18 hectare of his vineyards around Chablis according to biodynamic principles. 

We are excited to introduce you to the vineyard that started it all. Julien owns an 11 hectare parcel of "La Boissonneuse," a hillside vineyard of 30 year-old vines on average. Planted in a mixture of clay and limesto1ne with an abundance of fossils, the grapes are hand harvested and aged in large foudre for 10 months. 

Notes of candied orange, lemon zest, and mineral can be found on the nose and palate. The wine has a soft texture, with bracing acidity and a long mineral finish. 

A wine to drink alongside simple shellfish dishes, with sushi, or simple goat and cows milk cheeses.
