Weingut Lagler "1000 Eimerberg" Neubürger '15

Weingut Lagler "1000 Eimerberg" Neubürger '15

The Lagler family has lived in the Wachau region of Austria since 1789.  This is in the lower wine growing region of Austria, also called the Niederöstereich.  Here, vineyards are terraced on steep slopes that flow into the Danube River, that the region runs along.  The vineyards are drenched in sunshine, south-facing, while it remains fairly cool in climate.  With its elevation and proximity to the river, there is a rich variety of soil types here as well.  All of the above is going to bring around rich, complex wines that are trocken (dry) in style.  Running the small, 13 hectare domaine currently is Karl and Elizabeth Lagler, along with their son, Karl Jr.   1000 Eimerberg is one of the top sites of the Wachau, with this selection made from the Neubürger grape varietal.  It is a crossing of Röter Veltliner and Sylvaner and produces a full-bodied wine, full of rich honeyed textures, minerality and delicate notes of stone fruit and its blossoms that dance across your tongue with encouragement from its bright acidity.
