Maison-Blanche "Le Colombier de la Métairie" Montagne Saint-Émilion '17

Maison-Blanche "Le Colombier de la Métairie" Montagne Saint-Émilion '17

Le Colombier is made from younger-vine Cabernet Franc (50%) and Merlot (for the Merlot, primarily older vines are included, some newer at about 45%). After fermentation, the wine rests for 15 months in a combination of cement vat and barrel. Much more fresh and supple, this is a wine that can be enjoyed thoroughly in its youth but would also reward medium-term aging.

The wine shows beautiful balance in both red and dark fruit - black cherry, spiced purple plum, with hints of herbs and cocoa nib, violets & a touch of lavendar. On the palate, the silky yet slightly dusty tannic quality really feels like classic right-bank Bordeaux. Feel free to use Bordeaux glassware, but it benefits wonderfully from an all-purpose, or even white wine glass, as to not let such an expressive bouquet escape too quickly.
