Lupinc Terrano '12

Lupinc is a small family estate winery, and its young, talented winemaker, Matej Lupinc, is the current generation and proprietor of a cellar that dates back to 1913 in Carso of Fruili, in Italy. Lupinc works with the classic native varieties of Carso – Vitovska, Malvasia Istriana, and Terrano. In 1970, they were one of the first to estate bottle for the area. This is a very hands on winery with, owner and winemaker, Matej Lupinc taking on the majority of the work in both the vineyard and the winery. In total, average production is around 20,000 bottles per year. This is a luminous region, offering great warmth, but with its proximity to the sea, where there are plenty of cool breezes.

Terrano is an acidic-driven red varietal with softer tannins that came with age, with sharp tones of dark berries, violets and mineral undertones. Wonderful with prosciutto and most cured meats, pork-based dishes as well.
