Rall White '18

While I don't typically like using words like "best" or 'greatest," I am clear in my belief that Donovan Rall is the best winemaker in South Africa. Whether it is his wines under the Rall label, or his work for his friends at Vuurberg, there is never a wine produced that I don't enjoy.

Donovan founded his winery in 2008, starting by producing two wines, a white wine blend and a red wine blend, with fruit sourced from old vines primarily from Swartland and Stellenbosch. 

In the winery, Donovan tries to keep things simple, fermenting with natural yeast, using his small basket press, and aging typically in older oak barrels.

We've got a special treat for you this month by offering the release of his 2018 White at a very special price. A blend of 66% old-vine Chenin Blanc, 30% Verdelho and 4% Viognier, this is the perfect winter white wine.

Beautiful aromas of citrus oil, flowers, and mineral. Medium weight on the palate, with gorgeous stone fruit and citrus flavors. This is a perfectly balanced wine, and can be drunk on its own, or with simply prepared lobster. It is a fantastic white wine!
