Casa de Saima Branco "Vinhas Velhas" '16

Casa de Saima Branco "Vinhas Velhas" '16

Casa de Saima was founded in 1940 with 18 hectares of vineyards located on small plots of land, situated in the best "terroir" of the region. Winemaker Graça Miranda of Casa de Saima runs this small family winery in Sangalhos in Bairrada and is dedicated to showcasing the potential of these indigenous grapes that can be difficult to grow, but produce amazing wines. If you are a fan of Muscadet from the Loire Valley, this briny, complex white is something you must try. A blend of 70% Bical, 20% Maria Gomes and 10% Cercial makes for a beautifully complex and balanced white that can age for up to two decades! The grapes for this wine were hand-selected and allowed to ferment with natural yeasts. A little time on the lees also adds to the complexity and brings out notes of flint, mineral, citrus, orange blossom and salty sea air.
