Thibaud Boudignon Savennières "Clos de la Hutte" '16

We certainly don’t mind going out on a limb and saying that this is a “must buy” wine. Chenin Blanc is one of the world’s greatest grape varietals. You can drink it young, you can age it for the medium term, and in some cases like you would a Grand Cru White Burgundy.

In just a short time, Thibaud Boudignon has emerged as one of the top producers in the Loire. His range of Chenin Blanc is truly incredible.

Clos de la Hutte is a single parcel wine from the small village of La Possonnière in the appellation of Savennières. Its history as an ancient religious site and proud parcel of the monastery, shows its importance. The monks knew where all the best vineyards are! The vines are planted almost directly into bedrock as the topsoil is very thin. Fermented with natural yeast in 300-liter barrels, before aging in 600 liter demi-muids for around 18 months. This has a quite demeanor about it now, with elegant mineral and orchard fruit notes. You can drink it now, but with a handful of years in bottle this will be explosive.
