Torre A Cona Colorino "Casamaggio" '16

Torre A Cona Colorino "Casamaggio" '16

Built upon history that dates back to early 1000 AD, Torre A Cona is more than just a winery, it's a part of Tuscan history.

While Tuscany is widely known for its noble variety Sangiovese, there are other grapes planted throughout the region.

Colorino is typically viewed as a blending grape, hence the name hinting at its role to add color. And while it does have a deep, dark color, it has other enticing components that can be noticed when vinified on its own. In the past 5 years or so, we have seen an increase to create monovarietal wines from lesser known grapes, such as Colorino. And when it's good, it's great!

After being aged for 1 year in Slavonian oak casks, the wine shows ripe tannins and a juicy, compact composition. The wine is full of ripe, dark plum, blackberry and blueberry and classic savory hints of balsamic and fresh herbs. These wonderfully rich flavors are rounded out into an elegant finish. Enjoy this aged cheese, roasted meats & root vegetables.
