Voerzio "Priavino" Dolcetto d'Alba '17

Voerzio "Priavino" Dolcetto d'Alba '17

Over the last 35 years, Roberto Voerzio has become synonymous with the very best of Piedmont. Founded in 1986 in the village of La Morra, Voerzio has gained a reputation for a no-expenses spared style in both vineyard management as well as at the winery.

Great wine always begins with great vineyards, especially in Piedmont where the best terroir is is in the hands of just a handful of growers. Voerzio owns  some of the best parcels in vineyards in La Morra such as Brunate, La Serra, and Rocche dell'Annuziata.

Voerzio is well known in the region for restricting yields through green harvesting. It has been said that his vines produce the lowest yields in Piedmont. It is also duly noted that he puts equal effort into his rare and expensive Barolo as he does his everyday values produced from Dolcetto and Barbera.

This excellent Dolcetto is a great introduction to the Voerzio style. From estate vines in La Morra, Voerzio harvests the grapes from 35 year-old vines. It is fermented in stainless steel and rests in tank for ten months.

Classic Dolcetto aromatics of black cherry, fennel fronds, and forest floor. Medium weight, with an intense core of fruit, soft tannins, a continuation of cherry notes, finishing with soft acidity.

Dolcetto is a fantastic wine for everyday American Italian classics such as lasagna and baked ziti.
